Melbourne Tunnel Early Works – Civil Utility Service Relocation Works Design – Arden Drainage

The $10.9 billion Metro Tunnel will deliver twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden, Parkville, CBD North, CBD South and Domain, creating a new dedicated pathway through the city for two of Melbourne’s busiest rail lines. John Holland has been appointed as Managing Contractor for the Metro Tunnel Early Works, the first package of works.

The Melbourne Tunnel Early Works scope involved the relocation of power, drainage, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications services to clear the alignment prior to the Main Works commencing in 2018.

Land Engineering was accepted by the Managing Contractor John Holland to perform works for the Principal Contractor Melbourne Metro Rail Authority on their Melbourne Tunnel Early Works – Civil Utility Service Relocation Works Design – Arden Drainage – Design.

Description:

Traditional open cut installation 3.5m deep in clay ground conditions:

– 1350mm class 4 RCP pipes

– 675mm class 4 RCP pipes

– Excavation and removal of CAT C contaminated material

– Set up, operate and manage trade waste onsite

– Soil and water quality testing

– Precast Pits & In-situ pit construction

– Connection to existing services

– Testing & Commissioning

– CCTV inspection of all new pipes
