Melbourne Water Crack Repair Project

The Melbourne Water Crack Repair Project addresses the repair of structural cracks in two DN 1050 stormwater pipes, each 90 meters long, located under the Mordialloc Freeway. Following the identification of these cracks, Melbourne Water, the asset owner, requested Decmil to undertake immediate repairs. In response, Decmil approached Land Engineering for our expertise. We proposed a cost-effective methodology that involves sealing the cracks directly. A significant challenge in this project was maintaining the water level in the creek while diverting flow to ensure a safe working environment inside the pipes. The repair process requires a comprehensive setup, including a confined space entry (CSE) setup and rescue provisions.

Extensive mock training was conducted to ensure our team could efficiently navigate and work inside the pipes. Pre-work preparations were crucial, allowing us to execute all trolley and setup operations without complications on-site. This project showcases our commitment to safety and efficiency in complex repair situations.
